is what we sometimes call the by-product when cutting or engraving on resinous materials such as acrylic, wood, materials with adhesive backing, etc. They consume filters sooner rather than later 🙂

Here’s where our Pre-filter modules that can be added on our Laser Fume Extractors or ordered as a stand-alone to complement your existing laser fume extractor / air filtration system.

Designed to enhance the performance of the SPH800/SPH400 air purifiers, the PF800/PF400 passive pre-filter modules capture larger dust and particles protecting the air purifier’s HEPA and/or carbon filter.

Who needs it?

Customers that have heavy dust loadings will appreciate this pre-filter section since it will prolong the life of the primary filters inside the SPH800/SPH400 extractors, reducing the maintenance costs.

What’s inside?

The PF800/PF400 modules contain three (PF800) or two (PF400) high-capacity antimicrobial, multilayered, dust filter bags that can capture a significant amount of dust and particulate matter before it reaches the primary filters of the SPH800/SPH400 units.

How easy is it to change the filters?

Whether you have a standalone or add-on module filter bags are accessed in the same manner. Remove inlet cover, quarter turn 4 locking mechanisms and remove the section to replace bags. Designed to be clean simple and effective. Dust is contained in the bags to
minimize the mess and exposure of personnel to potentially harmful dust.

How can I use it?

The PF800/PF400 passive pre-filters can be used either as add-on modules to an SPH800/SPH400 air purifier or as standalone mobile units. The standalone modules, can be used with virtually any existing filtration system. The inlet and discharge collars can accommodate many different arrangements to suit the application. Single or dual 1”, 1.5”, 2”, 2.5”, 3” or 4” diameter collars are available as standard options. Custom diameters are
available upon request.

DuPont™ Delrin® acetal homopolymer resin is a highly-crystalline engineering thermoplastic.

Our Laser Fume Extractors generally come with deep bed chemical filtration (we have one that’s 8” deep, one that’s 15” deep) loaded with our general purpose chemical media blend. For most applications the general purpose blend would suffice.

If you’re cutting materials such as Delrin you will most likely require a special combination of chemical filtration with a mix of chemical media blend to be effective in dealing with the fumes produced in the process of cutting Delrin.

We suggest you let us know what materials you work with in order for us to provide you the best recommendation for your air filtration, fume extraction needs.

Effective laser fume extraction is critical to laser systems due to the possibility of toxic, carcinogenic corrosive or extremely odorous contaminants that can be generated.  All of our laser fume extractors feature multi-stage filtration incorporating a 2” Pre-filter section, 2” Certified HEPA filter and deep bed activated carbon modules.

Industrial Air Cleaner for Quality Control Laboratory – grinding, polishing, abrasion and erosion tests

A prospective buyer / user from Greece writes (we do ship our air filtration systems overseas – yes, in 240V configuration):

We want to have an industrial air cleaner for our quality control laboratory (about 93 m2) where we carry out various experiments (grinding, polishing, abrasion and erosion tests) of metallic components. These experiments produce dust and metallic particles (size of the particles > 25 ÎĽm).

A couple of ways to address the issue:

  • Source capture
    Source capture will work – but it is a localized approach, air filtration system, dust, debris collector usually fitted with a source capture hose, is situated in the proximity of the source of the dust, debris particulates. The Velocity X4 could be good for this. See the description below. The Velocity X4, basic configuration, is currently $1700.00 USD (price of course is subject to change without notice, also additional options added).
  • Recirculating the air
    could, would work, but not immediately. The dust and other airborne particulates need to get to the air filtration system for it to remove the airborne particulate contaminants. The larger the system and / or the number of units in place, the higher the number of the air changes per hour and the quicker the indoor air gets cleaned, filtered of the airborne fine dust, debris particulates. The unit should be equipped HEPA and other High Cap dust filters.
