Effective laser fume extraction is critical to laser systems due to the possibility of toxic, carcinogenic corrosive or extremely odorous contaminants that can be generated. All of our laser fume extractors feature multi-stage filtration incorporating a 2” Pre-filter section, 2” Certified HEPA filter and active carbon modules.

Particulate matter/ dust is removed efficiently
There are a series of filters in the system to ensure that all particulate matter/ dust is removed efficiently:
The unit contains multi-layer knock out pad filters, Deep Pleated high capacity safety filters and a MERV 17 99.97 % HEPA filter.
The HEPA filter is the last particulate filter in the sequence and it is designed to remove 99.97% of all particulate matter that is 0.3 microns and larger.
This is the same type of filter that is used in hospital operating rooms. Please note as the filters begin to get dirty they also become more efficient making the system more efficient as time goes on. This occurs as it gets more and more difficult for the dust to pass through the filter due to the passages becoming smaller as they become filled with debris.
Gas phase / chemical odor filter is quite large and 8″ deep
The gas phase filter is quite large and 8″ deep in direction of airflow. We have 26 different types of chemical media that can be incorporated into the chemical filter to address and deal with specific contaminants if required.
Depending on the type of media the modules could weigh as much as 40 lbs.
Our standard and most typical module contains a virgin bituminous coal extruded 3-4 mm carbon pellet.
This carbon is ideal in removing many VOCs and has a holding capacity as high as 25 % by weight. Initially the removal efficiency will be 100% for most VOCís. Over time the mass transfer zone will travel through the chemical filter as it gets consumed.
Gel seal material to guarantee zero by-pass
The chemical filter is seated inside a gel seal material to guarantee zero by-pass of the chemical filter. This is the same material that is used in Pharmaceutical and Hospital environment clean rooms. All gases therefore must pass through the chemical filter
High pressure blowers to overcome the resistance
Unlike other systems that have a sprinkling of carbon our gas phase chemical filter is quite large and requires the use of high pressure blowers to overcome the resistance created by the deep bed chemical filter. Our blowers are capable of generating 90″ water column of pressure. With this type of blower as the filters begin to get dirty and plugged we can still effectively overcome this increase in pressure. The system is equipped to advise you when the filters need to be changed.
Laser Cutting, Sticky Fumes, Premature Filter Clogging
Sticky smoke
is what we sometimes call the by-product when cutting or engraving on resinous materials such as acrylic, wood, materials with adhesive backing, etc. They consume filters sooner rather than later.
Here’s where our Pre-filter modules that can be added on our Laser Fume Extractors or ordered as a stand-alone to complement your existing laser fume extractor / air filtration system.
Designed to enhance the performance of the SPH800/SPH400 air purifiers, the PF801/PF401 passive pre-filter modules capture larger dust and particles protecting the air purifier’s HEPA and/or carbon filter.
Who needs it?
Customers that have heavy dust loadings will appreciate this pre-filter section since it will prolong the life of the primary filters inside the SPH800/SPH400 extractors, reducing the maintenance costs.
What’s inside?
The PF801/PF401 modules contain three (PF801) or two (PF401) high-capacity antimicrobial, multi-layered, dust filter bags that can capture a significant amount of dust and particulate matter before it reaches the primary filters of the SPH800/SPH400 units.
How easy is it to change the filters?
Whether you have a standalone or add-on module filter bags are accessed in the same manner. Remove inlet cover, quarter turn 4 locking mechanisms and remove the section to replace bags. Designed to be clean simple and effective. Dust is contained in the bags to
minimize the mess and exposure of personnel to potentially harmful dust.
How can I use it?
The PF801/PF401 passive pre-filters can be used either as add-on modules to an SPH800/SPH400 air purifier or as standalone mobile units. The standalone modules, can be used with virtually any existing filtration system. The inlet and discharge collars can accommodate many different arrangements to suit the application. Single or dual 1”, 1.5”, 2”, 2.5”, 3” or 4” diameter collars are available as standard options. Custom diameters are available upon request.

How easy is it to change the filters?
Both the standalone and the add-on module, have been redesigned to allow easy front-access to the filter bags for a clean, simple and tool-less replacement. Just open the front-door, remove the old filters and replace them with new ones.
