The Quatro Air SPH400 Fume Extractor and Air Filtration System is designed with up to 4 stages of filtration each targeted for removal of specific size particles and gases.

There are a series of filters in the system to ensure that all particulate matter/ dust is removed efficiently:

The unit contains multi-layer knock out pad filters, Deep Pleated high capacity safety filters and a MERV 17 99.97 % HEPA filter.

The HEPA filter is the last particulate filter in the sequence and it is designed to remove 99.97% of all particulate matter that is 0.3 microns and larger.

Same type of filter that is used in hospital operating rooms

This is the same type of filter that is used in hospital operating rooms. Please note as the filters begin to get dirty they also become more efficient making the system more efficient as time goes on. This occurs as it gets more and more difficult for the dust to pass through the filter due to the passages becoming smaller as they become filled with debris.

Odors, Fumes – gas phase filter is quite large and 8” deep

The gas phase filter is quite large and 8” deep in direction of airflow. We have 26 different types of chemical media that can be incorporated into the chemical filter to address and deal with specific contaminants if required.

Depending on the type of media the modules could weigh as much as 40 lbs.

Our standard and most typical module contains a virgin bituminous coal extruded 3-4 mm carbon pellet.

Ideal at removing many VOC’s

This carbon is ideal at removing many VOC’s and has a holding capacity as high as 25 % by weight. Initially the removal efficiency will be 100% for most VOC’s. Over time the mass transfer zone will travel through the chemical filter as it gets consumed.

A gel seal material to guarantee zero by-pass

The chemical filter is seated inside a gel seal material to guarantee zero by-pass of the chemical filter. This is the same material that is used in Pharmaceutical and Hospital environment clean rooms. All gases therefore must pass through the chemical filter

High pressure blowers to overcome the resistance created by the deep bed chemical filter

Unlike other systems that have a sprinkling of carbon our gas phase chemical filter is quite large and requires the use of high pressure blowers to overcome the resistance created by the deep bed chemical filter. Our blowers are capable of generating 90” water column of pressure. With this type of blower as the filters begin to get dirty and plugged we can still effectively overcome this increase in pressure. The system is equipped to advise you when the filters need to be changed.

Who needs it?

Customers that have heavy dust loadings will appreciate this pre-filter section since it will prolong the life of the primary filters inside the SPH800/SPH400 extractors, reducing the maintenance costs.

What’s inside?

The PF800/PF400 modules contain three (PF800) or two (PF400) high-capacity antimicrobial, multilayered, dust filter bags that can capture a significant amount of dust and particulate matter before it reaches the primary filters of the SPH800/SPH400 units.

How easy is it to change the filters?

Whether you have a standalone or add-on module filter bags are accessed in the same manner. Remove inlet cover, quarter turn 4 locking mechanisms and remove the section to replace bags. Designed to be clean simple and effective. Dust is contained in the bags to
minimize the mess and exposure of personnel to potentially harmful dust.

How can I use it?

The PF800/PF400 passive pre-filters can be used either as add-on modules to an SPH800/SPH400 air purifier or as standalone mobile units. The standalone modules, can be used with virtually any existing filtration system. The inlet and discharge collars can accommodate many different arrangements to suit the application. Single or dual 1”, 1.5”, 2”, 2.5”, 3” or 4” diameter collars are available as standard options. Custom diameters are
available upon request.

DuPont™ Delrin® acetal homopolymer resin is a highly-crystalline engineering thermoplastic.

Our Laser Fume Extractors generally come with deep bed chemical filtration (we have one that’s 8” deep, one that’s 15” deep) loaded with our general purpose chemical media blend. For most applications the general purpose blend would suffice.

If you’re cutting materials such as Delrin you will most likely require a special combination of chemical filtration with a mix of chemical media blend to be effective in dealing with the fumes produced in the process of cutting Delrin.

We suggest you let us know what materials you work with in order for us to provide you the best recommendation for your air filtration, fume extraction needs.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRUSHED AND BRUSHLESS MOTORS?

Brushless blower motors have a higher capacity to move air than brushed motors however do so with less static pressure.  Static pressure can be thought of as suction and is measured  in inches of water column (wc.).  Thus a low suction unit will pull water perhaps 2 inches up a pipe and no more and thus would have a static pressure of 2″wc.  High power brushless motors have a maximum measurement of 44″wc.  This makes them ideal for applications with VOCs, odors and light loads of dust.  Brushed motors on the other hand are measured at 90″wc and are ideally suited to conveying heavier smoke, heavier dust and any type of ‘sticky’ fume.  Not only do the brushed motors have more static pressure but the filters tend to last longer as the motor can continue to ‘suck’ air through dirty filters that might otherwise reduce the airflow and require changing in a brushless unit.  Brushed units are typically less expensive than the brushless units however they do require that the brushes be changed every 500-700 hours.  This is a simple procedure that takes approximately 2 minutes and the only tool required is a screwdriver.   Demonstration videos are provided for each of our products indicating how to perform this simple procedure.  Since there are many advantages to both types of blower motors many of our units are available with either type as an option.  If you have any questions or concerns about which type of blower motor is best suited for your application please call us at 1-800-626-0664 in North America or +1 514-421-0658 internationally to discuss it with one of our experts.
